On the 16th of September 1968, I embarked on a journey from Wilmington's Union Bus Station en route to RTC Great Lakes via RDU. When I come across pictures of the old bus station, it serves as a poignant reminder of the bittersweet memories of that day. As a son of a World War II veteran, I cannot begin to imagine the emotions that my father must have experienced at that time. Undoubtedly, it was one of those moments that life presents us with, where joy and sadness are intertwined.
